Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 23 August 2026
These are the terms that apply when you book and rent a Vespa with VoziVespa. When you collect your Vespa, you'll also sign our full Vehicle Rental Agreement in person, which covers the same terms in more detail and is the legally binding contract for your specific rental — this page exists so you know what you're agreeing to before you get there.
Acceptance of these terms
A signature isn't what makes this agreement binding. Paying the rental rate and taking possession of the Vespa is itself an act of acceptance — by doing so, you're agreeing to these terms and to the Rental Agreement in full, whether or not a physical signature was actually collected at the time. The absence of a signature doesn't excuse you from any part of this agreement.
Rental rate and deposit
Nothing is charged when you book — no payment or deposit is taken to hold your reservation. The full rental rate is paid in person when you collect the Vespa and sign the Rental Agreement, and is non-refundable from that point on — including if you return the Vespa early, don't end up using all the days you paid for, or the weather turns bad partway through your rental. This isn't just a no-refund policy — unused time also can't be exchanged for credit toward a future rental or moved to different dates. A €300 security deposit is held as a credit card authorisation at pickup, against loss of or damage to the Vespa or its equipment during your rental. Where the Vespa is returned undamaged, we release the hold within 1 hour. It typically reappears in your available balance within 24 hours, but the timing is controlled by your card issuer and may take up to 10 days, particularly over weekends or holidays.
Payment
Payment and the deposit authorisation are both handled in person at pickup — we don't take either through this website. We accept cash, debit, and credit cards for the rental payment. The €300 deposit requires a credit card and cannot be provided in cash. In addition to the agreed rate, you're responsible for:
- Fuel used during the rental, plus a €20 refuelling fee if the Vespa isn't returned with the same fuel level as at pickup
- If the Vespa is returned late without any communication from you, a minimum €30 late fee, plus €10 for each additional hour
- On a multi-day booking, a half-day fee if your return time is later in the day than your pickup time — €25 for a Vespa 50 or €40 for a Vespa 150
- The cost of any damage or repair
- A €20 cleaning fee if the Vespa is returned in a condition requiring cleaning
- Any traffic or parking infringement fees incurred during your rental (see "Traffic offences" below)
If any amount remains unpaid more than 2 days after it falls due, daily compounding interest, any debt collection costs, and a €20 administration fee may apply.
Who can ride
You must be physically and legally fit to operate the Vespa, and hold a current licence appropriate to it — a B or AM licence for Vespa 50, or an A2 or A licence for Vespa 150 — along with the relevant minimum age and at least 1 year of prior riding experience. Only the driver(s) named on your Rental Agreement may operate the Vespa, and only while holding that valid licence.
Where you can ride
Vespa 50 rentals must stay within Zadar County at all times. Vespa 150 rentals may travel outside Zadar County, but no assistance is offered outside the county for either model, except at the rental owner's sole discretion and for an additional fee.
Beyond that, the Vespa can't be used to carry more than one passenger in addition to the rider, ridden on a beach or any unpaved surface likely to damage it, used in a race or competition, used for any illegal purpose, or sublet or re-hired to anyone else. Absolutely no drinking and riding is permitted: the rider must not consume alcohol before or while riding and must never operate the Vespa under the influence of alcohol.
Looking after the Vespa
While it's in your care, we ask that you drive and park with reasonable care, keep it locked and secure when not in use, use only the specified fuel type, and leave the odometer and its mechanical systems untampered with. If a warning light appears or anything seems off, stop and contact us immediately rather than continuing to ride it.
Breakdowns and accidents
Any accident, breakdown, or need for repair must be reported to us by phone immediately, regardless of cause — please don't arrange or carry out repairs yourself, except where genuinely necessary to prevent further damage. Roadside assistance is only available within Zadar County, and is free for genuine mechanical faults within the zone described above; call-outs for refuelling, jump-starts, tyre issues, lost/damaged keys, or assistance within Zadar County but outside that zone are charged at €100. Island call-out assistance is guaranteed at a charge of €225, but response and arrival times are not guaranteed because they depend on ferry schedules, weather and access. No assistance is offered outside Zadar County for either the Vespa 50 or Vespa 150, except at the rental owner's sole discretion and for an additional fee.
Returning the Vespa
The Vespa must be returned to the agreed location by the date and time on your Rental Agreement, unless we've agreed to an extension in advance. If you're late and haven't contacted us, a minimum €30 late fee applies, plus €10 for each additional hour. If it isn't returned and we can't reach you, we may report it stolen, and you remain liable for its full value or our recovery costs.
Liability
You aren't personally liable for accident damage or injury caused to third parties — including other cars, mopeds, property or people — whether you're at fault or not. That third-party liability is covered by the Vespa's compulsory insurance. If you're at fault, you remain responsible for damage to the rented Vespa and its accessories, any resulting loss to us (including lost re-hire revenue), and your own injuries. The compulsory insurance doesn't cover damage to the rented Vespa, your own injuries or theft.
Traffic offences
You're responsible for any traffic or parking penalty incurred during your rental. We'll forward any notice we receive to you, and you're free to challenge it directly with the issuing authority. A €25 processing fee applies to cover forwarding such notices.
Cancellations
Since nothing is paid until you collect the Vespa, cancelling costs you nothing — you're free to cancel or change your booking at any time before pickup, no penalty, no fee, because no payment was ever taken in the first place. Just let us know — see "Contact" below.
On our side, we reserve the right to release your reservation if you haven't arrived or been in contact within 1 hour of your agreed pickup time, or to decline the rental at pickup if we determine you don't meet the licence, age, or experience requirements to ride the Vespa safely. We may also end an already-started rental and take back the Vespa immediately if you're in breach of these terms, or if it's damaged.
If you're running late but still arrive within that hour, whether you get the full rental period counted from your actual pickup time is at our discretion. Otherwise, the rental runs from your originally agreed pickup time regardless of when you actually collect the Vespa — that time isn't added back at the return end.
If we need to cancel your booking on our end for any reason, we'll first offer you the same model on a different date. If that doesn't suit you, we'll offer a larger model at the same price instead, provided you meet the licence, age, and experience requirements to ride it. If neither works for you, the reservation is simply cancelled and nothing further is owed either way — since no payment was ever taken, there's nothing to refund.
This flexibility applies only before pickup. Once you've collected the Vespa, signed the Rental Agreement, and paid, the rental has started and that payment is final — see "Rental rate and deposit" above.
